Michael David Patrick
August 5, 1946 - July 30, 2008

Michael David Patrick, the son of Roy David and Loretta Glowczewsky Patrick, was born August 5, 1946 in Spencer, Iowa. His childhood years were spent in Spencer, where he received his education graduating from Spencer High School in 1964. Following high school, he attended Estherville Junior College for a short period of time and met his future wife.

Mike married Carol DeVries on March 13, 1965 at Immaculate Conception Church in Graettinger, Iowa. Following their marriage, he worked for Spencer Grocery. He later worked at Whittenburg Distributing for 33 years and Johnson Brothers for a short period of time, until his semi-retirement. Mike was an entrepreneur all of his life, chasing his dreams and owning several business including taverns, rental properties and his current business venture, Grantiques. His latest passion was the three houses that he renovated in Fostoria as well as going to auctions and finding unique items. His greatest love was his family and he was idolized by his grandchildren, who he doted on, attending as many sporting events and personal milestones of theirs that he could. They loving nicknamed him Poppie aka Grumps. He loved Notre Dame Football, the Minnesota Vikings, playing cards (he was also known as Mr. Cards) and golfing. Mike was truly the Champion of the Underdog and was a giving person to everyone.

Mike passed away at the Spencer Hospital on Wednesday, July 30, 2008 at the age of 61. His parents preceded him in death.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Carol of Spencer; one son, Chris Patrick and his wife, Nancy of Dubuque, IA; two daughters: Anne Patrick-Daley of Wayzatta, MN and Michele and her husband, Brett Ramert of Plymouth, MN; a sister, Kathy Pettit and her husband, Bob of Ruthven, IA; a brother, Richard Patrick of Leominster, MA; ten grandchildren: Alyssa, Kelsey, Elle and Mara Daley, John, Joe and Liz Patrick and Michael, Will and Ben Ramert; other relatives and many friends.
